Cowes Primary School recognises its legal duty under section 175 Education Act 2002 and the 1989 Children Act and takes seriously its responsibilities to protect and safeguard the interests of all children. The school recognises that effective safeguarding and child protection work requires sound procedures, good inter-agency co-operation and a workforce that is competent and confident in responding to safeguarding and child protection situations.
At Cowes Primary we agree that we have a primary responsibility for the care, welfare and safety of pupils in our charge, and we will carry out this duty through our teaching and learning, extra curricular activities, pastoral care and extended schools activities. In order to achieve this, all members of staff (paid and unpaid) in this school, in whatever capacity, will at times act proactively in child welfare matters especially where there is a possibility that a child is at risk of significant harm.
If you have a concern about a child or adult, please notify one of our Safeguarding Leads, or the Local Authority Officer. Please see contact details below.
